Plasma is a complex system that is universally existed around us with multiple physical fields. There are so many problems to be solved for plasma accompanied by electrical field, magnetic field, particle flow, heat transfer problems, waves, collisions, etc. In fact, researches on plasma and its applications play an important role in many academic fields, such as fusion research, space physics, material science and technology, environmental protection and biomedical researches. In this presentation, a brief introduction on the basic characteristics of plasma will be given, and the application of plasma in nuclear science and technology will be summarized. Detailed information on the application of plasma on fusion research, electron acceleration, volume reduction of the spent fuel, and isotope separation plasma will be included. Some major cooperation research projects (such as ITER, CFETR) will also be briefly reported as the background. This presentation is aimed to show a rough image on the application of plasma in nuclear science and technology for the colleagues in IFCEN.
About the speaker:
Dr. Wang Zhibin, associate professor at IFCEN, received his Ph.D. degree from Department of Engineering Physics, Tsinghua University in 2013. After graduation he joint Laboratory for Space Environment and Physical Science at Harbin Institute of Technology for the construction of Space Environment Simulation Research Infrastructure (SESRI), which is the first National Huge Science Project at northeast of China. During that period, he involved in several research projects, such as the National Natural Science Foundation, ITER project, 973 projects, and 863 pre research projects. He was promoted to be an associate research professor in 2017 and joined IFCEN in 2019.
